This map shows you the route to a grocery store called 'Parkwood Plus' at the end of Parkwood Blvd, a 2-3 min walk.
This one shows a convenience store at the Shell service station at the other end of Parkwood Blvd, about 15 min walk. That Shell station sells petrol, diesel and gas.

Swimming pools
This route takes you to the car park at the Southport Aquatic Centre. They have an Olympic pool, diving pool, two heated children's pools of different kinds, and another indoor heated pool. Next to that same car park location there is a brand new barbeque area with tables and free electric barbeque cooking facilities, children's playground and the spit, with a beach. Walking south from there you will find a free children's water fun area, with pools and waterfalls, etc., and further south is a new pier, and parks, and more play areas with some interesting free rides for kids.
Seafood
This map shows the way to Charis Seafood. Around lunchtime each day they feed the pelicans and there is a seawater pool to swim in, a small beach and a park. This is fun for children, and the food is good.
[For seafood itself, our favorite is Harbour Seafood Market (map), just across from Harbour Town Shopping Centre.] |

The Green and the Gold.
The Gold Coast is often called "The Green and the Gold" because there are mountains and rain forests that run alongside the golden beach, just a short drive away.
Popular attractions there include
'Natural Bridge' (map)
'Tamborine Mountain' (map)
Lamington National Park (map)
Canungra (map)
South Stradbroke Island
Looking for a big golden beach with practically nobody around?
Just a short distance from Southport is South Stradbroke Island, and you may take a Broadwater boat taxi (map) or a Ferry (map) to that location.
Surfers Paradise at night
Aside from the restaurants, there are some fun activities in Surfers Paradise at night.
There is a place called "Infinity" in Surfers Paradise open until 10pm
There are some rides in Surfers too, open at night.
Surfers is becoming rowdier late at night, so we usually leave it by 10 p.m. or so. |

|
Gold Coast at night
"Wildnight Adventure" is run by Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (map).
At the bottom of that page is a link to obtain E-tickets, along with prices. There is a buffet and a tour to see the wild Australian animals that are mostly nocturnal.
Glow Worm tours
There are also the Glow Worm tours that take you up to the mountains at night time, and down into the natural bridge cave to view the glow worms.
This is very popular and a number of different companies operate such tours.
Here are three, though you might like to check out others:
Tamborine Mountain Glow Worm Caves
Springbrook Glow Worms Tours
and
Glow Worm Tours |

Other things
AquaDuck is a bus/boat with tours
Ozball is a giant, 3 metre inflated ball which you jump inside as it rolls. It's a hair raising adventure with or without water, for adults and children over 6.
There are many other attractions – see some here.
Of course the oldest most popular spot is the Surfers Paradise beach itself (map). Caution: parking officers are ready to pounce if you forget to feed their hungry parking meters. To avoid them you may consider private parking, like this carpark.
